FACTORY -
The Incubation Program
With the FACTORY incubation program, we support innovative, market- and start-up-ready Salzburg start-ups every year. We accompany you for twelve months in your individual development steps. During this time, we and your mentor will prepare you for market entry and further growth and you will gain exclusive access to collaborations with the established economy.
Our new additional program FACTORY+ (AplusB) promotes research-, technology- and innovation-based start-up projects in particular and supports you with special additional services. An external jury decides which participants qualify for FACTORY and the additional FACTORY+ program. FACTORY / FACTORY+ take place in a combination of digital learning and coaching sessions and face-to-face modules.
Applications will be open again starting in August 2025.

Prerequisites
You can apply for the FACTORY if you …
- have a start-up with a business model that is based on knowledge-based innovation.
- a product or service is available at least as a functional prototype (proof of concept) and a basic market strategy (business plan) has been formulated.
- you are aiming for a clear growth perspective for your (planned) company.
- you founded your company no more than five years ago or are currently in the process of founding it.
- you have already formed the management team for your startup.
- you have decided on a start-up or business location in the province of Salzburg.
You can apply for the additional program FACTORY+ (AplusB program) if you …
- you are pursuing a start-up project that is based on research, technology and innovation (RTI).
- you are pursuing a start-up project with high growth potential and/or a high propensity for growth.
RTI-based start-up projects have a business model with well-founded and defensible core know-how, i.e. it is based on patentable technology approaches or specialized knowledge that effectively impede imitation by competitors and generate a sustainable competitive advantage.
The business models / products / services of the RTI projects are characterized by one / ideally several of the following features:
- High level of innovation based on a unique technological selling point.
- Risky research and development activities in an academic context.
- Intellectual property, technology transfer and/or spin-off activities from (non-)university research institutions.
- Specialized knowledge acquired through relevant previous scientific experience.
- Cooperation projects: Completed or planned development or research activities with university or non-university research institutions.
